My second race weekend on the bike after my crash was alot of fun. I raced with WMRRA at the amazing track at The Ridge, just 10 miles out of Port Angeles. I had to start from the back of the pack through the course of the weekend because I had no points. My first race on saturday was the 750 super sport, which I had to start from the last row of the grid in the second wave. I was not excited with my placement in 24th on a very rough grid. Despite the grid placement, I got an amazing start passing over 10+ people on the very first lap alone! The group I wanted to run with was too far ahead, and I was barely catching them by only a tenth here or a tenth there. I ended up with a good finish, coming in 11th. I looked forward to the next race which was the 600 SuperSport. Having to start in the back, again, I knew my work was cut out for me, but I felt confident with my start. For half of a lap I was behind a group that prevented me from gaining on the group I wanted to run with and it opened a gap that I could not close. By the end of the race I had improved my best lap time to 1:44:770. The last race of the day began with great start for me, but my bike was struggling with transmission issues. The bike was popping in and of gear, and was really affecting shifting my bike. Starting from last place again, I had an amazing start, flying from 19th place and was up to 5th by turn one, but was then shuffled back to 6th. I set my fastest lap of the weekend at 1:44:173. Unfortunately, the transmission began acting up and by the last 5 laps I was battling with false neutrals. I almost high sided coming out of turn eight due to the shift forks being bent.  Despite the difficulties, I finished the race in 7th place. 

   After saturday's malfunctions, my bike was unable to be ridden; the bike could not even shift into neutral to be wheeled in to the trailer. So the next day I took my dad's bike out in practice, setting a 1:48:87 and entering the race. I got another great start, again from the last row in 20th. With some quick suspension changes right before the race to set the bike up, I went out with 1:45:489, Only 1.3 seconds off my best time on my Dad's bike, which I have had minimal practice on. So I was pretty happy finishing 11th when the race was stopped short after a red flag. The last race of the day, the Open SuperBike, which I began with a nice start and had been trying to put down a personal best for the weekend, when I unfortunately crashed at over 100 mph coming up the hill to turn 11. I was very lucky to come away from the crash with only a concussion and some soreness. 

    Overall I was happy with how the weekend went and again improved my mid-corner speed which I had been struggling with the most. I look forward to the next season, hoping to get in a full season  and not to be plagued by injuries or any setbacks. After a brief hiatus from racing, due to my accident in Round 3 at
PIR, I returned to the raceway last weekend, eager to be back on my
bike. My fourth weekend on the track helped me return to where I had
been before my crash, which I was lucky enough to come away from
relatively unscathed. I had a rough start to the weekend, with the
clutch on my bike frying and having to exit the track after only 1.508
seconds. My A bike needed to be repaired, so I raced the 750 super
sport on my B bike, finishing in 11th place. Back on my A bike for the
Open super sport, my final race of the day, I finished in 3rd place.
    My second day on the track I raced in the 600 super bike, coming
in 11th but increasing my speed by .600 tenths more than the previous
day. In my final race, the 750 super bike, of the weekend I made
progress towards reaching my personal best, coming in just 8 tenths
slower at 1.11.9. In the race I was battling for 4th position but
crashed out of the race while trying to close the gap between myself
and the other riders.
    Overall I had a good weekend and made positive progression towards
my personal best lap time and advanced my overall skills as a rider,
as I do every time I'm on my bike. I hope to achieve faster times and
rider skill in my next race weekend.

Round # 2 OMRRA

My second full race weekend as an expert was a good step forward as a rider, but the results where not what I liked. I finished 3rd in the Open Supersport class which was a good start. My next race was the 600 Supersport race, I had fuel delivery problems that ended my race prematurely. Up next was 750 Supersport and  I finished 9th.
  The next day I raced the Open Superbike class and  I finished fourth. My second race of the day was the 750 Superbike race I turned my fastest lap of the weekend ( 1:11.1) but  crashed in turn 8. Unable to get my bike repaired, I was forced to ride my backup bike ( which is my dads 2006 zx6r race bike!)  in the next race.  I ran as high as 9th, but ended up 12th overall .
   Overall it was a good weekend and I dropped over a second off my best lap-time from the first round of the season which was good.

 My first race weekend as an expert! I had a great time at Portland International Raceway. All the help I received was extraordinary. I had to start last in most of my classes.
    The first race of the weekend was the 600cc Supersport class. I started 24th on the grid, and after battling my way through the field, I ended up 9th after running off the track on the last lap. The next race up was the 750 Supersport class, which I started in 19th and ended up with a 5th place finish.
 Sunday races were next, and I was excited. I competed in the 600cc Superbike class , starting  25th and finishing 9th. The last race of the day was the Open Superbike which I started 10th and ended up 6th, racing against mostly 1000cc bikes on my 600.

 Special thanks to Steve Korol at evol technology for the  AMAZING rear sets , Rob Burch of the MotoFit Group for his  help and instruction, Chris Stricker of CMC Performance for the EXCELLENT Bridgestone tires and of course my AWESOME family!

  All in all it was a safe and fun weekend. I am looking forward to my next event at the end of May.
