Sorry for lagging on keeping you updated lately. On 5/17/14 I was involved in a pretty nasty crash @ Perris (SCFTA) 

I was having a great day! Just got the new Mitas tires from Jim Wood and they were working great! Finished 3rd in my heat which put me on the front row for the main. Not to mention having a good battle with the one and only Jimmy Wood!! 3 laps or so into the main I got tangled up with another rider, I ran his boot over and it got sucked in between the rear wheel and swing arm on my bike. It was like it locked up and before I knew it I was flying through the air into the wall. I knew I had broken something right away, so I looked at my left arm which felt pretty bad and it was looking like a Z! I pulled it back into place sorta while I was in shock, and by this time commotion had unfolded on the track trying to get the other rider free. Shortly after they cut my jersey off and put it in a splint when I said screw the ambulance. Ended up going to Loma Linda University hospital which was 45 minutes away in the van. It was obvious both bones in my left forearm were broken at this point. Got X-rays which confirmed that I had fractured the Radius and Ulna which required plates on both. I was up all night with my girlfriend taking care of my broken ass (thank god she was there nurses were ignoring me haha) I was very lucky because they were able to install the titanium the next day and send me home. Looking to be back on the bike by mid july!

Hello, 
Last Saturday (March 15th) We loaded up and headed to 

Perris for the Southern California Flat Track Association 

round 3. I was lucky enough to get to throw a leg over the 

Johnny Angle Chop Shop 1938 Indian Sport scout for the Classic 

Vintage class, and had the Southland Racing/Racetech/Herrera 

Racing crf450 hooked up decent but couldn't get any traction 

coming out of the corners all night. The day started off pretty 

eventfully in the Classic Vintage heat race. I didn't get the 

best start due to having to shift the Indian into 3rd after 

starting in second (handshift joy) but still managed to pick 

everyone off, the scout had 2x the motor of the rest of the 

bikes, and it was showing. I had pulled a decent lead when the 

front cylinder divorced from the case.  Next up was the pro heat,

 and I was more than ready!! Spun off the line pretty bad but 

managed to run top 3 until I left the door open and 2 fast guys 

snuck by. No mercy in the Pro class!! I lost the clutch on the old 

Honda on the line of the Pro main and got an awful start due to it. 

After that I grew super impatient and lowsided as a result. I had my 

bike back on 2 wheels and joined the pack in 5th place and rode the 

rest of the race with the fast guys out front, but of course it 

didn't count for anything. Overall a good learning experience!! 

Looking foreword to running Chowcilla 3/8 mile on April 1st!!

Sorry I've been caught up with getting everything 

ready for the weekend. 2014 should be a good one!! 

Jim wood with Southland racing is now building my 

450 motors and Race Tech is doing the suspension. 

The bike is unreal now!! I will get you a complete 

schedule ASAP, but the next race is this weekend at 

Perris. Plans for this year include putting a 2nd 

450 together, getting my AMA pro card and hitting 

up Castle Rock, Grays Harbor, Santa Rosa, and Pamona! 

As much as I would love to make it back east to run 

Indy, Knoxville, and Springfield it doesn't look 

like that's going to happen this year. 2014 should 

be the best year so far!!

Hey, Long time no talk, Sorry about that. 2012 was pretty slow for me racing wise, so there was not much to keep you filled in on. 2013 however is already a different story, Made the trip to Vegas for some Coke Syrup action and Motorcycle Auctions 2 weeks ago, and had a pretty good trip. I made the main event both nights from the Semi, which is an accomplishment in its self being that I've never made the Mains in Vegas before! Ended up out of the top 10 both nights but had a great time over all! Decided to drive down to Perris Raceway's So. Cal. Flat Track Association 1/4 mile to turn some laps. More than likely going to the double header next month, and hit up as many races as I can before I have my shoulder fixed (Torn Labrum) I've attached a few pics, and one from when I started riding for you guys and a few in Vegas. Thanks for all the bitchin' stuff!

Well, Vegas was a bust but still had a great time!! Missed the semi by a few spots on the 1st night and missed it by 2 spots in the semi the 2nd night. Hung out with Twitch and friends in the pits, and talked to Newbold about the cool factor of a compression release on a 2 stroke, Oh and the fact that is ACTUALLY helps keep it in the power band. I also managed to separate my shoulder and hook up a really cool vintage racer from Reno with some FTWCO stickers... Well I put them on the tank of his bike and he was ECSTATIC and went on about how cool FTWCO is! Had a really great time conversing with fello FTWCO racers and riding coke syrup. Cant wait 'til San Jose Indoor March 30th (my bday) and 31st. 1st official AMA pro race!! Until next time

A Dangerous Sport

Hello, well, my season came to an abrupt end about 15 weeks ago. Fractured Tibia and torn Meniscus, happened playing football. Spent 8 weeks on crutches and now I'm back on the bike!! Booked hotel rooms for Vegas this morning, and began the process of converting my 450 from dirt to concrete for the indoor season. Sorry I didn't update you sooner, I have been really busy with school and walking on crutches everywhere. See you in Vegas!

Well, Ventura Raceway went pretty well. I took 6th in the AM open main and 2nd in the chopper main. The track was GREAT in practice, my bike was hooking up and I was flying, but the dumbasses at Ventura Raceway put too much water on the track and it became SLICK! I was leading the hooligan class, the only other guy that gave me a challenge was riding an XR750 framed Sportster 1200. I was on a 1936 Indian Sport Scout with NO BREAKS. In AM open practice I was doing OK and running mid pack. I took 2nd in the Hooligan heat and 4th in the Am Open heat, there were 7 people in Am Open and 10 people in Chopper/Hooligan. The track was the best in the heats by far. By the time the main events rolled around it was 8:00 when the Hooligan main took the track, and it was pretty slick, I couldn't work the bikes clutch and lost a lap yet still salvaged a 2nd. By the time the Am Open main took the track they had watered it and it became Flat track Drifting, I almost lost the front end on 5 occasions and ended up in 6th place. I'm going to Perris Speedway (SCFTA) on July 9th and 10th, I sure hope I do better there. I will no longer be riding the Indian due to a sponsor being tired of a 15 year old getting all the attention and him thinking he can do it. He can until he crashes the 1st time. I changed my number to 36z because 57 is what was on the Indian.

My name is John Tinsley. I live in beautiful Ventura,CA. I am 15 years old, and a freshman in high school. I started riding at the young age of 3 and have been progressing ever since I threw a leg over the 1st time. My weapons of choice are a 2004 CRF450R, and a 1936 Indian scout 750 that I ride tankshift breakless. My goal for 2011 is to meet the requirements for an AMA Pro license. I lied about my age and rode Vegas indoor, I slapped a 250 together and rode San Jose indoor (concrete like Vegas) and am planning on winning multiple classes at my home track Ventura Raceway on June 11th. Maybe I can show Newbold a thing or 2 about riding concrete ;) John
